Embassy's School Visit Programme "Konnichiwa- Welcome to Japan"commences at The University School, St. Augustine

On Friday 19th February 2010, the Embassy of Japan along with both Japanese and local volunteers began its School Visit Programme at the University School on Cheeseman Avenue, St. Augustine.

The cultural activities presented to Fifth Year students highlighted various aspects of Japanese life, including demonstrations on Japanese mannerisms/customs, wearing the kimono, origami, and Japanese games. Both the school's principal Mrs. Beverly Trotman and Art teacher Mrs. Farabi were present at the event.

The Embassy anticipates the development of diplomatic relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Japan via educational initiatives, and as such, seeks to promote Japanese culture through this medium.

This Programme has been approved by the Ministry of Education of Trinidad and Tobago.
